The SandMate™ Foldable Beach Wheelchair is designed to make beach access easier, more comfortable and more practical for people with limited mobility. Four wide balloon-style wheels, a lightweight folding frame and a comfortable supportive seat make it purpose-built to travel across soft sandy surfaces where standard wheelchairs can struggle.

Designed for Soft Sand

Traditional wheelchair wheels are narrow and can quickly dig into loose sand. SandMate™ uses four oversized balloon wheels — 9-inch at the front and 12-inch at the rear — with a low-pressure design that spreads the load across a greater surface area rather than concentrating it onto a narrow tyre. This is what gives the chair its ability to travel over beach terrain.

Lightweight at Approximately 13 kg

With a net weight of around 13 kg, SandMate™ is designed to be easier for carers and family members to lift, transport and store.

Folds for Easy Transportation

The foldable carbon-steel frame reduces the chair's footprint considerably when it isn't in use, making it easier to transport in a suitable vehicle, store at home, take on holidays or move between locations and community facilities.

Beach-Ready Materials

The frame combines epoxy-painted carbon steel with stainless-steel components, including a stainless-steel front fork. The seat fabric is UV-resistant, waterproof and breathable, making it better suited to sunny coastal environments.

Comfortable Supportive Seating

A padded blue-and-black seat and backrest provide comfortable support, with 42 cm between the armrests for a secure seating position. Flip-up leg supports make it easier to get into and out of the chair while providing foot support during use.

Care After Use

After use near saltwater or sand, we recommend rinsing away sand and salt residue with fresh water and allowing the wheelchair to dry completely before storage to help maximise its service life.

Important Use Information

SandMate™ is designed primarily for use on sand and similar recreational surfaces with assistance from a capable attendant. Always assess the terrain and conditions before use. Exercise additional care around slopes, water, uneven surfaces and changing tides. The wheelchair should not be taken into deep water or used as a flotation device. Maximum recommended user weight: 100 kg.
